The School for Social Work believes in the importance of mentorship and supervision. Over the course of their academic program, M.S.W. students will have numerous opportunities to benefit from the knowledge and experience of mentors who can guide them to excel— in the classroom, in their research and in the field.

M.S.W. advisers provide academic advising and may be consulted as needed.

  • Advisers for first-summer M.S.W. students are the instructors of the 500/501 practice sequence.
  • Advisers for second-summer students are the instructors of the 600/601 practice sequence.
  • Advisers for third-summer students are resident SSW faculty and are randomly assigned by the registrar.

More information about specific assignments can be found on the My Student Info tab of the Smith Portal.
