Congratulations again on your acceptance to the Smith College School for Social Work!

Forms and Deadlines

Accept or Decline the offer of admission within two weeks of receiving the offer - Consult your decision notification for the due date.

March 1 - Final deadline to complete the FAFSA to apply for financial aid.

April 10- due date extended to June 1 - Record of Immunization due. Please read details and find the required forms in the "School for Social Work Students" section on the Health and Wellness website here.

April 20 - Disability Identification Form due. For additional information visit the Office of Disability Services
Please note: Due to COVID-19, day-to-day operations of the Office of Disability Services are being performed remotely. As such, all correspondence, forms and medical/educational documentation must be emailed to; in order to ensure timely receipt.​

April 29 - Health Insurance/Waiver deadline. All SSW students will be automatically enrolled and billed for the School’s health insurance plan in order to ensure compliance with Massachusetts’ mandate on health insurance coverage for all full-time students. If you have equivalent coverage, you may request an insurance waiver. Look for an email soon with more important details.

May 1 - M.S.W. Course Registration, Transfer Credits, Waive Requirements or Requesting a Special Schedule
All first-year M.S.W. students are pre-registered for courses by the Registrar’s Office. You will be notified of your course schedule no later than May 3. For your own planning purposes, all first year courses are scheduled between 11 a.m. am and 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday.
  • Waive a required course: If you have completed a course(s) in an accredited M.S.W. program, and received a grade of B or better, you may apply to waive out of an equivalent course by completing this form.
  • Waive course SOCW 525: If you have taken a course(s) in Child Development, you may petition to waive out of course SOCW 525– Child Development by completing this form.
  • Transfer course credit: If you have completed a course(s) in an accredited M.S.W. program, and received a grade of B or better, you may apply to transfer those credits into the Smith M.S.W. program by completing this form.
For students entering the M.S.W. program with Advanced Standing, schedule details of a Second Year student can be found here. The School recognizes the complexities of attending a full-time academic program while balancing life and work. If you anticipate conflicts in how courses are scheduled, the Registrar’s Office invites you to contact them at (413) 585-7989 or to work toward the best possible compromise between scheduling and life demands.

May 30 - Title IX Mandatory Training deadline. In the beginning of May, you will receive an email from the Office for  Equity and Inclusion with instructions on completing mandatory Title IX training.

July 1 - Official Transcripts with Degree due. If we have not already received it, we require an official copy of your transcript, with degree listed, not later than July 1. All questions in this regard should be directed to the Office of Graduate Enrollment.

Important Information

Smith Email, Smith Portal and Other Accounts
Within a few days of accepting our offer of admission, you will receive an email with your Smith username and password information that will allow you to connect to Smith Google Apps (including Smith Mail, our implementation of Gmail), Moodle, the Smith Portal, the Smith network, lab computers and the Five College library system. Read more about Smith computing systems and services.
If you do not receive this email, please contact ITS at (413) 585-4487. Once your Smith email account has been created, check it regularly as some offices will contact you at that account as you prepare for enrollment. Please continue checking your email on file for emails from Smith SSW, as well.
It is important that you enter your Emergency Contact information into BannerWeb before the start of classes.
