Judy Florio is a licensed independent clinical social worker that practices with children and adults in settings that center access to care. She is a 2025 graduate of Smith SSW's doctoral program. Her dissertation, “Adolescent Experience of Electronic Ankle Monitoring in Juvenile Court: a Theoretical and Thematic Analysis,” was nominated for the SSWR Best Dissertation award.
Florio worked for 10 years at a therapeutic day school in Boston, providing trauma-informed individual clinical work, and developing school-based community enhancing programs developed through a trauma-informed and psychodynamic lens. She has recently moved to New York, and is practicing through a blend of clinic work through the Karen Horney Clinic, and school-based work though Hunter College Campus Schools. In addition, Florio operates a small insurance-based private practice. She is looking forward to returning to Smith in this new role.
