Biography

With more than 25 years of experience in clinical social work, Karen Peters is a seasoned clinician and program leader specializing in school-based mental health and adolescent treatment.  Since 2014, Peters has served as the BRYT Clinical Coordinator in the Amherst Pelham Regional School district. Peters’ work centers on creating integrated academic, emotional, and case management supports while providing individual, group, and family counseling in a school based setting.

Throughout her career, Peters has held leadership and supervisory roles across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and school settings, with an emphasis on crisis assessment, clinical supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Karen is deeply committed to trauma-informed, developmentally responsive care and to mentoring emerging clinicians.  Peters holds an M.S.W. with a clinical concentration from Virginia Commonwealth University, an MPA with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from The American University and has advanced training in clinical supervision and in Bowen Family Systems Theory.
