Biography

Linda Mayers, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City who specializes in the psychology of adoption across the lifespan. She is a co-editor and contributing author of The Adoption Journey, a special issue of Psychoanalytic Inquiry (2010), which helped bring psychodynamic perspectives on adoption into broader clinical discourse. Mayers provides psychotherapy and interstate online consultation for adopted persons and their families, with particular attention to identity, attachment, loss, and the long-term psychological impact of adoption. She brings both professional and personal perspectives to this work as an adoptive mother of a young adult.
