Lisa Amato graduated from the Smith College School for Social Work in 2007. Amato holds an interdisciplinary master's degree from NYU in Latin American immigration studies and community organizing, as well as a doctorate from UMass Amherst focused on the development of culturally sustaining trauma-informed care in education. Amato is committed to addressing the impact of systemic disparities by centering student and client voices. Amato currently works as a clinical social worker at the UMass Amherst Center for Counseling and Psychological Health and maintains a small private practice.
