This workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of core concepts in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT©) — developed by Dr. Bruce Perry, M.D., Ph.D. We will discuss and explore how we can apply these core concepts with child and adult clients who have experienced a range of traumatic experienced including neglect. Particular attention will be paid to applying these core principles in practice and finding practical ways of implementing strategies to support both children and adult client who have experienced developmental trauma. We will identify ways that these core concepts are applicable in working with a range of oppression-based trauma (racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny etc). We will include discussion of ways that existing evidence-based approaches overlap in their application of these concepts. Participants will have opportunities to apply these core clinical concepts in understanding and conceptualizing their own cases both in regard to assessment and intervention. Pragmatic applied learning will be a key focus of this workshop.
