Biography
Astrid Watkins is a Ph.D. student and lecturer in Social Work and Social Welfare at the University of Chicago. She draws on archival, place-based, participatory, and ethnographic methods to learn about abolitionist and land justice movement history and engaged social work pedagogy. Prior to pursuing a Ph.D., she worked in social policy advocacy and research and in arts-based organizing.
