Juneteenth 2025: Connecting Community Through (Un)common Threads

June 18, 2025, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
Location
Chapin Lawn and Campus Center - Rain Location: Carroll Room, Campus Center
Description

The thread of yesterday still moves through us today, and into the future. This Juneteenth event will draw on how Black communities piece together beauty, wisdom, togetherness the same way Black quilters layer together the texture, pattern, and color of quilts and come together to make something beautiful from scraps.

Music, BBQ, sewing + art and celebration in community.

This event is the first iteration of dreaming of futures by connecting with and bringing the past into the present. The second event in the Anti-Racism Planning Group (ARPG) Juneteenth 2025 series is a talk on Afrofuturism by Lonny Brooks, Ph.D., and is taking place on Monday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. More info here.
