Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy for Social Workers: An Introductory Overview

Join us for an enlightening and transformative workshop presented in partnership with the SSW Office of Practicum Learning and the Office of Alumni Engagement as part of the SSW Alumni Series. We are excited to welcome Brooke Stott, LMSW (she/her), a seasoned psychodynamically oriented psychotherapist and expert in the field of trauma, attachment and shame. Stott also serves as the program manager of the Psychedelic Therapy Training Program and as an adjunct instructor at the Columbia School of Social Work.

By the end of this training, attendees will:

  • know the current and anticipated legality of ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin for use in psychedelic-assisted therapy
  • know the different levels of involvement for legally and ethically supporting clients engaging in psychedelic healing practices
  • know the four session types within psychedelic-assisted therapy protocols
  • learn best-practices for the setting in which psychedelic-assisted therapy occurs
  • become familiar with recently published peer-reviewed research around the efficacy of ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin for use in psychedelic-assisted therapy

A bit about Brooke:
Brooke Stott, LMSW (she/her) is the program manager of the Psychedelic Therapy Training Program and an adjunct instructor at the Columbia School of Social Work, where she is working to develop a psychedelic-assisted therapy training certificate and electives to be offered within the school’s M.S.W. program. Stott is also a practicing psychotherapist at Golden Psychology in NYC, with a focus on trauma, attachment, and shame, offering individual and group ketamine-assisted psychotherapy for gender and sexuality expansive adults. Stott has comprehensive certificates in Trauma Therapy and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy, as well as specialized training in EMDR, MDMA-Assisted Therapy, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy.

Prior to coming to NY, Stott was the founding project manager, community partnerships lead and psychotherapist at Transhealth in Northampton, an integrated healthcare center serving transgender & gender-expansive community members. Additionally, Stott was formerly a project coordinator for both the Pioneer Valley TransECHO, which trained over 100 health care providers on gender-affirming care practices and a community-based participatory research project called Plan and Act for Transgender Health (PATH).
