Kathryn Basham, M.S.W., Ph.D. '90, has retired from Smith College School for Social Work after 29 years of service. A tireless advocate for Veterans and their families, Basham is noted as a leader in military social work having served on three Congressional committees yielding four co-authored texts.
In addition to her work with Veterans, Basham served on more than 50 dissertation committees and participated as the Chair with 16 Ph.D. students and graduates.
"Professor Basham has provided great leadership in clinical practice education," said Dean Marianne Yoshioka. "She was also deeply involved in the establishment of the School's Anti-Racism Commitment in 1995 and has served as a wellspring of knowledge regarding the original work as we have continued our anti-racism work over the last year."
