Simon Weismantel, M.S.W. '14, LCSW, was recently featured on Our Mental Health Crisis: The Stigma and the Struggle to Get Help on NBCLX. The segment explores the mental health crisis facing our country from the stigma associated with mental illness to the difficulty of getting help.

Said Weismantel, "mental health is something that we all, have whether we're in an acute struggle or not, it's something we need to take care of on a daily basis."

Among other issues, Weismantel and the other participants talk about the intense demand for therapists.

"There just aren't enough providers out there," said Weismantel. "I've increased my caseload by about 25 percent and over the last year have been turning away clients because I don't have the space...there's just not enough of us to meet the demand."

Weismantel is a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker at the Juniper Center.
