Alex Kim (he/him) is a clinical social worker currently in private practice in Northampton, Massachusetts. Previously he has worked in public schools, college mental health, community health centers, and family outreach agencies. He recently managed a program of training for graduate students in mental health professions that included supervising second year Smith SSW students.
Kim's clinical and scholarly interests include the theory and practice of working with trauma (including racial trauma, intergenerational trauma, and moral injury), the psychosocial benefits and risks of games and video games, and integrating spirituality and mental health. He completed his M.S.W. at Smith in 2012 and has been on SSW faculty since 2020, teaching group theory, first-year practice, and practicum seminar courses.
