Laura Pearl Spivack is a licensed clinical social worker, researcher, and educator from Montreal, currently living in Western Massachusetts. She holds a bachelor of social work from McGill University and a master of science in social work from Columbia University.
Spivack is the acting clinical director at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hampshire County, where she leads clinical work and multidisciplinary collaboration in response to child abuse and trauma. Her practice and research focus on forensic social work, including child sexual exploitation, high-conflict divorce, child abuse, and the intersection of criminal and family law.
She is especially passionate about using social work practice as a tool for systemic change. Spivack believes that institutions are not static—they are constantly evolving—and she is inspired by their potential to become more equitable and responsive. Her work is grounded in the belief that progress is possible and that social work can play a critical role in building better systems.
Alongside her clinical and research work, Spivack is committed to mentoring and teaching future social workers. She values the opportunity to help students think critically, engage ethically, and imagine new ways of practicing within systems that often feel resistant to change.
Outside of her professional life, Spivack enjoys reading, walking to local coffee shops, and is a proud mother—an experience that continues to shape her perspective and deepen her commitment to this work.
