Nieves Ayala is a chicana, from the intersection of three states, Chihuahua, New Mexico and Texas. After receiving her bachelor of arts degree in creative writing from the University of Texas at El Paso, she moved to the Kwinitekwi river valley of Western MA. As the daughter of a social worker, and school administrator, Nieves is passionate about social work education.
When not sewing, Nieves haunts libraries, bookstores, trails and swimming holes in the valley, where she lives with her family, Connell (partner) and Roscoe (dog).
