Biography

Sarai SaeHee Engel, LCSW is a clinical social worker and art therapist in Portland, Oregon and with over 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents in schools, residential treatment centers, and community mental health. Engel serves as a practicum faculty adviser at Smith College SSW, where she received her M.S.W. in 2006. She utilizes psychodynamic and attachment-based perspectives in her clinical work and is especially interested in the role of creativity in the therapeutic process. Engel is currently a clinical supervisor at Catholic Community Services, where her primary roles are teaching student interns and leading diversity, equity and inclusion agency trainings and initiatives. She also maintains a private practice conducting art therapy, and received a postgraduate degree in art therapy from Marylhurst University (2016) and certificate in Adoptive and Foster Family Therapy from Portland State University (2017). She lives in Portland, Oregon with her two cats and seeks out opportunities for creativity and artmaking when she can.
