Shiva Jyoti is a psychotherapist in private practice, San Antonio, Texas. Her practice focuses on well-being and spirituality (adults) incorporating meditation practices, breathing and movement systems such as Tai Chi and Qigong. Her areas of interest include neurodevelopmental learning throughout the life span as well as through the lenses of gender and culture; somatic therapy; and strategies to address bias, injustice and oppression of race, gender and culture.
Jyoti worked within the Department of Veterans Affairs for 40 years, in various positions, as a clinical social worker, social science researcher, program manager, supervisor, and as a clinical administrative coordinator. She was field supervisor for several graduate schools of social work, including Smith College (25 years). Currently she is adjunct professor, practicum faculty adviser (8 years.) and practicum seminar instructor (4 years) Smith College. She identifies as Asian [Indonesian-German].
