In this interactive virtual workshop, participants will be invited to engage with embodiment practices to support reflection on their own social identities (including age, gender modality, attractional identities, racial identities) and how these knowingly or unknowingly influence their work with trans, nonbinary (TGNB+) and/or lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, and other queer (LGBQA+) older adults. Next, attendees will explore the impacts of current influx of anti-trans legislation in the U.S. on TGNB+ & LGBAQ+ older adults. Next, attendees will explore the necessary inclusion of client-centered approaches to advocacy in clinical practice with TGNB+ & LGBAQ+ older adults. Lastly, through case studies and discussions, attendees will explore best intergenerational practices when working alongside TGNB+ & LGBAQ+ older adults. This course is designed to stand alone, or as an expansion from conversations begun in the previous SSWPE course, "Working with LGBTQIA+ Older Adults: Clinical Considerations" in December 2022.
