Sad news about SSW Dean Emerita Ann Hartman, M.S.W. '54

My dear colleagues,

I am writing to share the very sad news that SSW Dean Emerita Ann Hartman, M.S.W. '54, passed on November 5, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.

Dean Hartman was a powerful, gracious, incisive and loving force within and for our School and most certainly in the profession of social work. She had an unwavering commitment to honor and recognize the power of families and an individual’s large social network within our lives. Her contributions to family assessment and intervention brought paradigmatic shifts broadening our understanding of clinical work. On a personal level, she was smart and funny, kind and tough, a leader on every level.

Please join me in sending our condolences to Ann's family. Ann's passing is a profound loss for us all. We will honor Ann's life and legacy in our spring issue of InDepth.

Sincerely,
