With many changes happening in the world, the SSW Office of Alumni Engagement is excited to host a variety of upcoming alumni events in the beginning of 2025. Connection with community is essential, and having both in-person and virtual spaces for reconnection can make a big difference.
Kicking off the next few events is the three-part virtual Leadership Mindset Alumni Workshop series with Dean Yoshioka, happening in February and March. Designed for social workers in early stages of leadership, these collaborative workshops explore strategies for honing leadership voice, addressing challenges and applying effective leadership frameworks in practice. Dean Yoshioka is excited to share her insight in a collaborative learning environment with alumni.

For alumni in the Houston, TX area, Smith College President Sarah Willie-LeBreton will be hosting a festive evening of connection and conversation on February 27. Joined by SSW Development Director Dawn Faucher, the Connect with Smith event will be a great time to meet other Smithies and learn about what is happening on campus. More stops on the road with President Sarah Willie-LeBreton are upcoming in Philadelphia, PA, Twin Cities, MN and London.
The seventh annual SSW Alumni Dinner during the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) Connect Annual Meeting is happening in San Francisco, CA this March 7 at Osha Thai. Organized since 2017 by Kurt White, M.S.W. ’03 and Paul Gitterman, M.S.W. ’94, it is usually one of the larger SSW alumni events. The AGPA conference has a great turnout of alumni, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect. Also planned for local alums who won’t be at the conference, any alum can RSVP to enjoy an evening of great food, drinks and meaningful conversation.
