Update Regarding Alternate Modes of Instruction

Dear alumni,

We have been giving a great deal of thought to our SSW community in light of the rapidly developing situation surrounding COVID-19. We hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this challenging time.

In conjunction with the college, we’ve made the necessary decision to move all courses to alternate modes of instruction for summer 2020 to ensure the health and safety of our community. We are proud of the excellent curricula that we deliver and we are confident that we will continue to deliver a program of the same caliber this summer through alternate modes of instruction.

Given the unique structure of SSW and the impact of this national health crisis on individuals and communities, we made this decision to prioritize the health and welfare of everyone and to lessen the financial impact of multiple moves on our students and faculty.

We know this summer’s instruction arrangement is especially disappointing to third summer M.S.W. students and graduating Ph.D. students.

I know our community will come together and support one another in numerous untold ways and I am grateful for our alumni, our students, our faculty and our staff as we all work together to create as rich a community as possible under these circumstances.

We’re working on details and will share more on our website and through email as things develop. Our staff are working remotely. You can direct questions to Dawn Faucher in the SSW Office of Alumni Relations at dfaucher@smith.edu. More information about COVID-19 can be found on ssw.smith.edu/coronavirus.

Take care,

Dean Yoshioka
