Associate Professor Yoosun Park 2021 NASW-NJ Plenary Speaker

Associate Professor Yoosun Park, M.S.W., Ph.D., will deliver the Sunday Plenary at the 28th Annual NASW-NJ Conference and Exhibition on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3:15 p.m.

Park will speak on "The Complicity of Social Work: Racism, White Supremacy, and the Problematization of Immigrants." The plenary is based on her recently published book, Facilitating Injusticewhich critically examines social workers’ complicit role in the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII.

Said Park of her book, “This story has never been told before. There are several books on the larger history of the incarceration, but nobody had written about social works role in it since the 1940s. This history was completely erased and forgotten about so uncovering it became a compulsion for me— I wanted to find out.”

Join Park at NASW-NJ to explore the question "how should social work understand its ethics and responsibilities in these troubled times?"
