Samantha Thomas is a clinical social worker serving in both community mental health and psychiatric hospital settings and also serving as an adjunct professor with over a decade of experience spanning clinical practice, higher education, and nonprofit leadership. Her work is rooted in social justice and advocating for marginalized, vulnerable, and underserved populations, with expertise in trauma-informed care, restorative justice, cultural humility, and policy advocacy.
Thomas is skilled in all levels of social work practice—micro, mezzo, and macro—allowing her to provide comprehensive care. She has committed her career to supporting individuals and families affected by complex trauma, systemic oppression, and intergenerational challenges, with a focus on empowering those affected by inequities, and she is dedicated to addressing systemic inequities and challenging neoliberal frameworks that perpetuate inequality, particularly in mental health care. As a relational therapist, she integrates the frameworks of ego psychology and object relations into her practice, ensuring clients receive compassionate, culturally responsive support.
Her leadership in the nonprofit sector has led to the development of impactful programs, securing funding, and influencing policy changes that benefit at-risk youth, survivors of crime, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Her research interests focus on examining pain stories and trauma narratives in the therapeutic dyad, further fueling her commitment to fostering healing and justice for others.
