Below you will find virtual support for your mental, physical and emotional health and so much more. We hope you'll join us!

Virtual Academic and Professional Supports:

  • Advisers - They are your first line of support!  Be sure to reach out at least once each term.
  • Office of Disability Services
  • Learning Specialist: Jeannette Landrie provides learning support for students in need. Consultations can be scheduled by emailing JLandrie@smith.edu
  • Library Support
  • Writing Support from SSW Writing Program: The SSW Writing instructors are available to meet with SSW students about their writing in private consultations during both summer terms. Students can meet with the counselors at any stage of their writing process! For more information on the program and to schedule an appointment, visit the SSW Writing Program
  • ESL Writing Consultation: for those whose first language is not English, additional writing support is available from Alisa Ainbinder. Email Dean Rodriguez-M to request services.

Virtual Community Supports:

  • Student Commons Zoom Space - link in weekly Buzz email.
  • Dean's Hours – have a pressing issue to discuss? Or perhaps you're just interested in a chat with the Dean? Dean Yoshioka holds open hours every Tuesday, 1 – 2 p.m. EST (excluding 6/22 and 7/27). Link in weekly Buzz email.
  • Office of Inclusion & Equity
  • Sotomayor Fellows

Virtual Support Groups:

  • Black Student Support Group: Beginning week 3 and running through week 9, the Schacht Center will sponsor the Black Student support group, Mondays from 12-1pm ET.  Students are asked to email the Schacht Center to register and retrieve the link for the session.
  • Undoing Social Isolation - coming soon.

Support for Your Physical Wellness:

  • Pilates/Strength Building: Join Rosalie Peri each week for an hour of Pilates/Strength Building Tuesdays at 12:50 (except during break week); classes begin Tuesday, June 22.  Watch for the weekly zoom link and use your Smith email account to join!
  • Virtual Yoga for Body and Mind: Every Wednesday, 11 a.m. EST. (excl. break week), with our very own Jake Spivak. Watch for an email with the Zoom link in the Buzz. The goal of these 1 hour sessions is to create a balance of the physical and relaxation aspects of the Vinyasa practice, while attuning to one’s individual body needs. Jake is a second year student at Smith SSW and an Ashtanga and Vinyasa certified yoga teacher. Jake obtained his 200 hour teacher training certificate in Ashtanga and Vinyasa from Yoga-Alliance certified Kranti Yoga Shala in Goa, India.

Virtual Support for Your Mind & Spirit:

  • At-Home Acupressure & Meridian Massage: As an alternative to the Group Acupuncture Clinic this summer, Katie Oleksak, Lic. Ac., will provide one-on-one guidance to students online. She will provide instruction on at-home, do it-yourself acupressure and meridian massage, herbs, supplements and nutritional guidance and suggestions for overall health and stress reduction. As a practitioner, her process would be to gain an overall understanding of the specific needs of each student. If needed, students may follow up to provide updates, progress or questions for continuity of care throughout the summer. Schedule a consultation at acupunctureclinic@smith.edu.
  • Mental Health Consultation: The Smith College Schacht Center provides SSW students with an opportunity to seek consultation on the best ways to support themselves with a variety of concerns either through direct consultation or by exploring appropriate referrals local to the student's home base. The Center provides short-term consultation and referral services to providers local to  those who want counseling beyond what can be provided through the consultation sessions or therapy. The professional staff at the Center can also connect students to other campus resources as needed.
