Orientation 2021: A Weekend of Learning

SSW summer terms will begin on Friday, June 4 with orientation activities for the M.S.W. and Ph.D. students. Orientation concludes on Sunday, June 6 with convocation for all students. This year the School welcomes 353 students from 30 states and provinces for a virtual summer of learning. 

M.S.W. Orientation begins on Friday, June 4 with a series of asynchronous videos. The videos cover a range of topics from first year field internships to student supports and library services for summer 2021. In addition, Dean Marianne Yoshioka introduces the School's Five Core Principles that guide our programs and operations. All videos can be found in the M.S.W. orientation schedule.

Synchronous M.S.W. orientation begins on Sunday, June 6 at 3 p.m. ET with a series of virtual events including small group discussions about the Case of Jason and Family. Orientation is strongly encouraged for all students.  

Synchronous Ph.D. Orientation begins on Friday, June 4 at 11 a.m. ET with an overview of the program and continues with an introduction to the clinical field internship and a workshop on anti-racism and social justice in clinical social work. A virtual brunch on Sunday, June 6 at 1 p.m. ET will welcome students and invite them to meet their cohort. 

Orientation for both M.S.W. and Ph.D. students concludes with Convocation on Sunday, June 6 at 4:30 p.m. ET. All students are strongly encouraged to attend Convocation. 

Classes will begin on Monday, June 7. The summer will close with a virtual commencement celebration for the class of 2021 on Sunday, August 14, 2021 at 1 p.m. ET.
