If you are a student with a child or children, we know how important your family is to you—and we know how challenging it can be to juggle being a parent and being a student. We want to make sure that you have all the information you need to make the best decision for yourself—and your family—while you are a student at Smith College School for Social Work.
The ten week on-campus portion of the School for Social Work program can be quite demanding, making it difficult for parents to spend as much time as they desire with their children. However, many parents have successfully completed the program and the School for Social Work makes every effort to help parents succeed.
Depending on the ages of the children and the configuration and unique circumstances of each family, the needs of student-parents can vary widely. Parents may have limited time to spend with their children during the summer, but there are some benefits and support options for parents:
- On-campus housing for families is available.
- Students with a food plan may have children (and spouses/partners/caregivers) visit for meals on campus.
