Incoming M.S.W. Advanced Standing Courses

During the entering summer, M.S.W. advanced standing students will take 8 courses total (7 required courses and 1 elective). The SSW Registrar’s Office will contact newly admitted advanced standing (AS) students to conduct registration collaboratively in early March or shortly after accepting admission (if accepted after early March).

The incoming required courses for AS students are:

Term 1: SOCW 600 - Clinical Social Work Practice, SOCW 615 - Comparative Psychodynamic Theories, SOCW 618 - Racism in the United States, and SOCW 648 - Research for Clinical Social Work Practice

Term 2: SOCW 601 - Clinical Social Work Practice, SOCW 631 - Social Welfare Policy II, and SOCW 516 - Problems in Biopsychosocial Functioning One elective will be chosen to complete the summer term 2 schedule.

While not required, Advanced Standing students are encouraged to take SOCW 514 - Theories for Social Work Practice, 522 - Sociocultural Concepts, 505 - Group Theory & Practice and/or 520 - Family Theory for Social Work Practice) as electives.
