Acupuncture
Acupuncture with Katie Oleksak (LicAc) will be available for SSW students at the Schacht Center at 21 Belmont Ave.
There is no charge and insurance is not billed.
Appointments are required and can be booked through the patient portal.
COVID-19 Testing
Limited rapid antigen tests are available with One-Card access through the vending machine on the bottom floor of the Campus Center.
COVID-19 Information
Recommendations to slow the spread of COVID-19:
- If you are not feeling well, stay home and take a rapid antigen test.
- Consult the CDC guidelines for up-to-date travel and health guidance.
What to do if you test positive for COVID-19
- If you test positive for COVID-19, please email testingandtracing@smith.edu.
- Students should begin to isolate in place immediately following a positive test.
- Students will isolate in place for Summer 2023.
- Students may leave their room to obtain meals via Grab n Go and use the restroom only.
- Isolation is required for a minimum of 5 days, per CDC recommendations.
- Mask for 10 days after a positive test, even if symptoms are improving.
What to do if you’re a close contact or exposed to COVID-19
- Wear a mask for 10 days following an exposure.
- Students are able to attend classes and activities as long as they are free from symptoms and wearing a mask.
- Self-monitor for COVID-19 related symptoms.
- If you develop symptoms, begin isolating immediately and take a test.
- Take a rapid test on day 5 after an exposure, or sooner if you develop symptoms.
- Students who test positive should follow guidance under “What to do if you test positive for COVID-19.”
In an immediate, life-threatening situation: Call 911 or campus safety.
- In the event of an on-campus emergency call 413-585-5555 to reach campus safety or 911 for Northampton Public Safety. Stay on the line until otherwise directed.
- Consult with campus safety before calling an ambulance, except during immediate life-threatening emergencies.
- In the case of a serious accident or emergency and you are off-campus, seek immediate care by dialing 911.
- If you need assistance and cannot speak, use the Silent Call Procedure; you can indicate your need for help by pressing digits on your telephone’s keypad.

The links below list a range of private practice providers, the first link is based in Northampton, the second one is expanded to include all of Massachusetts (and these therapists can provide telehealth therapy to you here on campus).

What services can I access through TELUS Health online services?
- 24 hours/day, 7 days/week access to mental health support that is accessible through an app, website, or phone call to TELUS Health.
- Short-term counseling with an online TELUS Health counselor.
- Access to telepsychiatry with a referral from a TELUS Health counselor.
- Access to an online library of health and wellness materials.
- Access to clinical services both on- and off-campus, including if you are living overseas.
- You can request services in your preferred language.

Helping Students Access Mental Health Care
Students requiring telepsychiatry and prescription management can use this service to connect with licensed medical providers who create a personalized treatment plan for each student. Providers can prescribe medication (if medically appropriate) and follow up regularly to ensure treatment is working.
Students can access this free service by connecting with a TELUS Health Counselor and requesting a referral to Brightside psychiatry services.
