Returning Student Checklist

Please complete the following items by their due date to return to campus for summer 2024

  • Summer Housing Form: ALL students are required to indicate whether they will request the on-campus housing and food plan for summer 2024. Those requesting housing should submit their requests as soon as possible. 
  • Single room housing is available to all enrolled students; housing is all gendered and includes all meals. In addition, students who have minor children (younger than 18) living with them at least half of the summer may request limited Family Housing. Housing and food plan costs are listed here.
April 1Accommodations and Services Request, Office of Disability Services. Students in need of accommodation must contact the Office of Disability Services for accommodation in their classroom, internship, housing, or dining.
May 15Tuition payments due

Review and acknowledge the following in Workday:

  • Smith College SSW Mission Statement
  • SSW Five Core Principles: Students are responsible for reviewing and acknowledging the SSW 5 Guiding Principles.
  • NASW Code of Ethics: In accordance with the professional standards, students are expected to adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • FERPA Information: Review the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) as amended.
  • M.S.W. or Ph.D. Student Handbook: This form acknowledges that you have read and will follow the handbook.
  • M.S.W. Internship Guidelines: Students are expected to review the guidelines for entering your internship and use this document for future reference.
  • Academic Calendar & Moodle Information: Students acknowledge receipt of the academic calendar and Moodle use information. This can be saved for future reference.
  • Acceptable Use Policy: This form acknowledges that you understand and will follow Smith’s Acceptable Use Policy for technology resources and services.
  • My Friends and Family: Provide information for emergency contacts.
  • My Home Contact Information: Include home mailing address, phone number and email.
  • My Personal Information: Confirm or update personal information, including optional pronouns.
  • My Personal Photo: Upload a digital photo of yourself to be used in Workday.
  • Consent to Receive Form 1098-T Electronically: The IRS form is used to assist the taxpayer in determining eligibility for certain education tax credits.
  • Non-Discrimination and Anti-Hazing Statute: Read and acknowledge Smith’s Non-Discrimination Policy and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Hazing Statute.
  • Statement of Shared Responsibility: Students are expected to follow all safety measures to lower and prevent the risk of spreading COVID-19.
May 31
Move-InStudents living in campus housing may move in as early as Friday, May 31, 2024. More details will be posted as the date approaches.
After May 31Meal purchases for Off Campus Students: Meals for off-campus students are available by using this form. Please note that meals can only be purchased at the beginning of each term; unused meals can roll from term 1 to term 2.
June 2Convocation (attendance encouraged for returning students): Convocation is Sunday afternoon, June 2.
June 3Classes begin: Term 1 Classes begin on Monday, June 3, 2024

Returning Students:  Our Commitment to our Collective Learning: A mandatory meeting for all returning students, Monday, June 3rd 7-8:30pm (virtual). More details will be posted as the date approaches.
June 16

Deadline to opt-out of Gallagher Insurance for the June 2024 - May 2025 Period: All students are required to carry health insurance while they are enrolled. In early March you will receive notification of insurance coverage for June 2024 - May 2025 from Gallagher Insurance. You can find information about the plan at this site. You will be billed for this insurance in May and will be responsible for this charge unless you have an alternative insurance plan and waive out of the Gallagher Health Insurance plan. Instructions for waiving the policy can be found on our site

Convocation and Orientation Weekend
Parking for Check-In and Orientation

Parking is available for students in any green lined space on campus. Parking permits are required and may be purchased from the parking office. Please print a copy of your receipt and place it on the dashboard of your vehicle until you receive your decal.
