Returning Student Checklist

Please complete the following items by their due date to return to campus for summer 2022:

February 21, 2022
  • Immunization Form (required): In order to register for classes or return to campus, students must be in compliance with all health requirements, including the booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Instructions to upload your health documents can be found at smith.edu/health. Questions about this requirement can be directed to healthservices@smith.edu.    
March 31
Single room housing is available to all enrolled students; housing includes all meals. In addition, students who have minor children (younger than 18) living with them at least half of the summer may request limited Family Housing. 

Room and board costs are as follows:
  • Room and Board in Dorms (10 weeks) = $3,210
  • Family Housing and Board (10 weeks) = $3,450 

May 15

  • Tuition payments due: Tuition bills will be posted by April 24, 2022 and are due to be paid by May 15.
June 1
  • Term 1 Meal Plans for Off Campus Students: Meal plans for off-campus students (meals plan costs TBD) are available by contacting sswhousing@smith.edu. Please note that meal plans can only be purchased at the beginning of each term; unused meals can roll from term 1 to term 2. Term deadlines are June 1 for term 1 and July 13 for term 2.
June 3
  • Student Check-In: All students are required to arrive on campus on Friday, June 3, 2022 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. To limit density during check-in, reservations will be required. Additional information regarding reservations will be sent in early May. 
Check-In will be held under a tent outside of the Smith Campus Center where students will receive their student IDs, dorm keys and other materials before going to the Campus Center for a PCR test. Students must mask and follow all campus requirements based on the operating mode for that week (details to follow as the date approaches).

Based on campus requirements, students are asked to return to their dorm room/apartment to participate in the mandatory Convocation/Orientation which begins at 1:30 p.m.
  • Move-In: Students living in campus housing may move in on Friday, June 3, 2022 after the mandatory student check-in. For those traveling a distance, housing can be made available by request on Thursday, June 2, 2022. To arrange for early arrival, please contact sswhousing@smith.edu. Please be sure to mask and follow all on-campus requirements based on the operating mode for that week. More details will follow as the date approaches.
June 3 and 4
  • Convocation & Orientation (attendance required for all students): Out of an abundance of caution, 2022 Convocation and Orientation will be held remotely for students while they await a negative PCR test. 

    Orientation will give you everything you need to hit the ground running when classes begin on Monday, June 6; Convocation is a celebration to kick the academic year off and to celebrate your arrival!! In preparation for your journey at Smith, we ask all students to read the NASW Code of Ethics and to watch this video, which will serve as the topic of small group discussions at Orientation.

June 6
  • Classes begin: Students receiving a negative PCR test are invited to begin classes on Monday following all campus safety protocols based on the operating mode for that week.
July 13
  • Term 2 Meal Plans for Off Campus Students: Meal plans for off-campus students are available by contacting sswhousing@smith.edu. Please note that meal plans can only be purchased at the beginning of each term (meals plan costs TBD); unused meals can roll from term 1 to term 2.The term 2 deadline to purchase a meal plan is July 13.
August 3
  • Deadline to opt-out of Gallagher Insurance for the 9/1/22-8/31/23 period: At the end of June you will receive notification of insurance coverage for September-August from Gallagher Insurance. You can find information about the plan at this site. You have been billed for this insurance and will be responsible for this charge unless you have an alternative insurance plan and waive out of the Gallagher Health Insurance plan. Instructions for waiving the policy can be found our our site. Learn more about Gallagher Insurance.
